AquaShelter Privacy Policy

1. Overview

AquaShelter is an aquarium management app that helps users manage tanks, inhabitants, water parameters, maintenance tasks, photos, and expenses.

This Privacy Policy explains what data AquaShelter processes, when third-party services are involved, and what choices users have.

2. Information You Enter in the App

AquaShelter may process the following data that you manually enter or create in the app:

• Tank names, tank types, and tank size
• Fish, plants, corals, and invertebrates you add to a tank
• Water parameter readings such as pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and temperature
• Maintenance task titles, dates, and completion status
• Expense entries
• Photos you add to the photo timeline

This aquarium data is stored locally on your device using Core Data unless stated otherwise in this policy.

3. Information Stored Locally on Device

The app stores your aquarium records locally on your device. This includes tanks, inhabitants, water readings, tasks, photos, and expenses.

If you delete the app, this locally stored data may be removed from your device unless you restore it from an Apple device backup.

4. Information Collected Automatically

Depending on your settings, device, and app usage, AquaShelter and its service providers may process limited technical and usage information such as:

• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• Anonymous or pseudonymous app usage events
• Crash diagnostics
• Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data, subject to platform permissions where required
• Notification subscription identifiers and basic push-related metadata

5. Photo Access

If you choose to add a tank photo, AquaShelter requests access to your photo library so you can select an image. Selected tank timeline images are resized and stored locally in the app for your own timeline.

If you use Fish Identifier, the selected or captured photo is sent securely to AquaShelter backend infrastructure and processed by an AI provider to identify the fish. The photo and identification result may also be stored by AquaShelter to operate the feature, review quality, prevent abuse, and improve the AquaShelter fish database.

6. Public Catalog and Image Delivery

AquaShelter downloads fish, plant, coral, and invertebrate catalog data from AquaShelter backend endpoints and may load related public images for those catalog items.

Your private tank records are not sent to these catalog endpoints as part of normal browsing.

7. Third-Party Services Used by the App

AquaShelter currently integrates the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob for banner, interstitial, and rewarded advertising
• Firebase Analytics for app usage analytics
• Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics
• Firebase Remote Config for runtime configuration values
• Meta App Events / Facebook SDK for marketing measurement and attribution-related app events
• OneSignal for push notification infrastructure
• OpenAI for AI-assisted Fish Identifier image processing

Each provider handles its own systems according to its own privacy terms and policies.

8. Advertising

AquaShelter may display ads using Google AdMob after onboarding is completed.

• Banner ads may appear in supported screens of the app
• An interstitial-style ad flow may appear after every third saved water-parameter log
• An optional rewarded ad may be offered before showing the in-app tank health report

If Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission is shown on your device, personalized ad-related tracking is subject to the choice you make there.

9. Analytics, Diagnostics, and Marketing Measurement

AquaShelter may log app events such as adding a tank, logging water parameters, viewing species details, and completing maintenance tasks.

AquaShelter also uses crash reporting and non-fatal diagnostic reports to diagnose reliability issues. These reports may include error messages, app version, operating system version, device model, device identifier, IP address, user agent, and limited technical context needed to investigate the issue. Meta app events may be used to measure campaign performance and app activity related to marketing attribution, subject to platform permissions where required.

10. Push Notifications

If you allow notifications, AquaShelter may schedule local reminders and may also use OneSignal notification infrastructure.

OneSignal-related data may include a push subscription identifier and simple tags derived from app usage, such as tank count, inhabitant count, and platform.

You can disable notifications at any time in iPhone Settings.

11. Data Sharing and Selling

AquaShelter does not sell your personal data. Limited data may be shared with service providers described above only to operate app functions such as ads, analytics, diagnostics, configuration, notifications, image processing, and Fish Identifier.

12. Data Retention

Local aquarium records remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Uploaded diagnostic records, tank photos, Fish Identifier submissions, and related metadata may be retained on AquaShelter backend systems for service operation, support, abuse prevention, and feature improvement. Data processed by third-party providers is retained according to their own retention policies and account settings.

13. Your Choices

• You can choose whether to grant photo library access
• You can choose whether to use Fish Identifier or upload photos to AquaShelter backend services
• You can choose whether to allow notifications
• You can manage app-tracking preferences through iOS, when applicable
• You can stop using the app and delete the app to remove local on-device data

14. Children’s Privacy

AquaShelter is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly design the app to collect personal data from children.

15. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date on this page.
